About this file

This is an Appendix to a Scope of Work for the Dream Canyon Project in Colorado, detailing mine closure specifications and work requirements. The document presents a comprehensive feature work table for Item 4.0, which involves the installation of mine closures at 21 distinct mine openings across the project site. The work encompasses three primary closure methodologies: machine backfill for shafts and stopes, rock bulkhead construction with bat access features for adits, and grated shaft closures with bat cupolas for larger openings. Mine features range in depth from 5 feet to 100 feet, with opening sizes varying from 2 feet by 3 feet to 50 feet by 35 feet. Each feature is assigned a unique identifier, UTM coordinates using NAD83 datum, and specific closure method designation with references to detailed specifications and standard drawings provided elsewhere in the contract documents.

Work descriptions emphasize environmental protection and wildlife considerations, with all machine backfill closures requiring pre-work bat exclusion protocols and stormwater sediment control measures, including installation of 25 linear feet of biodegradable waddles downstream of work areas under project manager supervision. Specialized closures such as rock bulkheads require foundation clearing and minimum 30-inch thickness grouted native rock construction, while grated shaft closures with bat cupolas incorporate modified bat gates with six-inch by 24-inch bat slots and structural steel beams rated to support opening spans. Several features require imported fill materials, including 60 cubic yards for Feature 363-GF012 and 5 cubic yards of polyurethane foam for Features 363-GF007a and 363-GF007b to support bridge structures. All work is subject to competent rock assessment with requirement for barring down weak or failing rock prior to closure installation.
