About this file
This addendum document pertains to the Baraga Correctional Facility Housing Unit 8 Roof Replacement project, issued by Michigan DTMB (Department of Technology, Management & Budget) and MDOC (Department of Corrections). Addendum No. 2, dated November 27, 2024, modifies the original contract documents dated September 30, 2024, and does not change the bid date of Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The addendum introduces new specifications for steel siding materials and revises existing architectural details and drawings. Key modifications include the addition of Section 074619 (Steel Siding) to the General Project Manual, revision of Architectural Note 5 on drawing A-101 to specify blow-in fiberglass insulation providing R-20 total insulation throughout the attic space, and revision of Details 2 and 4 on drawing A-301 to change all references from vinyl fascia and soffit to steel fascia and soffit.
The steel soffit and fascia specifications require galvanized steel products complying with ASTM A653/A653M with G90 coating, featuring 16-inch exposure in V-grooved, double-board style soffit with minimum 29-gauge thickness and smooth fascia with pencil ribs (if exceeding 6 inches) in minimum 26-gauge thickness. Acceptable manufacturers include EDCO Products Inc., Gentek Building Products Inc., Norandex, Quality Edge, Rollex Corporation, and United States Seamless Inc. The specification includes a 15-year warranty period for chalking and fading from the date of Substantial Completion, requirements for perforated soffit ventilation, and provisions for hot-dip galvanized-steel fasteners with color-matched prefinished options where exposed. Installation must comply with manufacturer specifications and include protective measures against galvanic action where dissimilar metals contact steel components.
