About this file

This is a progress meeting agenda issued by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget on behalf of the Department of Corrections for a Fire Alarm Upgrade project at Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in Adrian, Michigan. The project involves upgrading the fire alarm system across multiple buildings at the facility. The bid date is scheduled for November 14, 2018, at 2:00 pm, with an RFI cutoff of November 11, 2018, and an addendum to be issued on November 12, 2018. The construction duration is 150 calendar days, with work to be completed using either 4-hour days or 5-8 hour days, to be determined before work starts and maintained throughout the project. The contractor must coordinate all construction activities with the facility team and provide 48 hours' notice prior to any changes. Four escorts will be provided by the facility during construction.

The project is designated as non-prevailing wage. A $50,000 allowance is included in the bid, and a deductive alternate for the Starnet 2 upgrade is available. All new conduit must be a minimum size with specified strap spacing and security requirements, and all devices must include tamper-proof fasteners. System integration for each building is limited to a maximum of 48-hour downtime due to facility fire watch requirements. The Food Service building work is restricted to 8:00 pm to 4:00 am hours. All buildings will report through the Starnet 2 system, and the contractor is responsible for all painting, patching, and permits, with costs to be included in bids. All questions and clarifications must be submitted as RFIs to Tower Pinkster for proper documentation.
