About this file
This is a project agenda from the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget's Design & Construction Division for a Fire Alarm Upgrade project at the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in Adrian, MI. The project (File No. 472.17395.RMP) involves upgrading fire alarm systems across multiple buildings, with bids due November 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM. The construction duration is set at 150 calendar days, with RFI cutoff on November 11th and addendum issuance on November 12th. The work includes installation of new fire alarm systems that will report through the Starnet 2 system, with specific requirements for security features including tamper-proof screws and single action metal pull stations.
The project includes a $50,000 allowance and is designated as non-prevailing wage. There is a deductive alternate for the Starnet 2 upgrade. Technical specifications require ¾" minimum conduit, security-type mounting hardware, and no surface raceway or knockout boxes. Work scheduling allows for either 4-10 hour days or 5-8 hour days, with four escorts provided. The Food Service building work must be completed between 8:00 PM and 4:00 AM. System downtime is limited to 48 hours per building due to fire watch requirements, and all construction changes require 48-hour advance notification to the facility.
