About this file
This document is a technical specification section for a Submersible Pump Level Control Panel for the City of Homestead's Pump Station 22 Upgrade project. The specification details the requirements for a triplex pump level control panel that will control the operation of three pumps using two modes: primary level control via RTU or Float mode during RTU failure. The control panel must include a white powder-coated Nema 4X-304 Stainless Steel enclosure, stainless steel hardware, main and generator circuit breakers, motor starters, level indicators, auxiliary circuit breakers, fuses, lightning and surge protection, phase detectors, control power transformer, LED pilot lamps, elapsed time hour meters, alternator, hand switches, relays, terminal strips, wire gutters, alarm bell and light, generator outlet, and float control with override switches.
The specification provides detailed technical requirements for the panel's components, including specific manufacturer recommendations such as Square D or approved equal for circuit breakers, motor controllers, terminal blocks, relays, and switches. The float switches must be direct acting with a sealed 5-inch diameter plastic casing, mercury tilt switches, and molybdenum contacts. The panel must be built by a shop with a minimum of 5 years of panel building experience and UL-508 or UL-698A certification. Surge protection will be a Ditek Model D100 or approved equal, and all status and control signals will be communicated via the SCADA system equipment. The electrical cable for float switches shall be PVC type STO #18-3 conductors, with a minimum cable length of 30 feet.
