About this file

This document is a technical specification section (40 05 53) for identification of process piping for Newport Utilities' Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) Clarifier Upgrades project located in Tennessee. The specification provides detailed requirements for stenciling and marking process piping, including guidelines for letter sizes based on pipe diameter (ranging from 1/2-inch to 1-3/4-inch high letters), pipe identification methods, and installation protocols. The project involves labeling piping systems with service names and flow direction, with identification markers to be placed at intervals not exceeding 20 feet on straight runs, near valves, penetrations, and obstructions.

The specification indicates that the work is part of a lump sum contract and will not be separately measured for payment. The documentation references ASME International standard ASME A13.1 for piping system identification, requiring compliance with specific color schemes and lettering standards. Materials must be stored in clean, dry locations and protected from moisture and dust. The project is being managed by WK Dickson (Project No. 20240712PR.WK) and is scheduled for bidding in March 2025, with the specific scope involving rehabilitation of two clarifiers at the Newport Utilities Waste Water Plant in Tennessee.
