About this file
This is an insurance requirements document for contractors working on the Town of Ellington, Connecticut's Request for Goods Senior Center Vehicles #2026-09-ITB-017, which involves the purchase of two new vehicles for the Senior Center Transportation Program: one ADA-accessible wheelchair vehicle and one gasoline-powered crossover SUV. Bidders may submit pricing for either or both vehicles, with each vehicle evaluated and awarded separately according to specifications and contract documents.
The insurance requirements establish minimum coverage thresholds that all contractors must maintain throughout contract performance. Workers' compensation insurance must include statutory coverage with employer's liability limits of $500,000 per accident for bodily injury and per employee for disease. Commercial general liability insurance must provide minimum coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $5,000,000 general aggregate, with additional requirements for $5,000,000 completed operations coverage and $10,000 medical expenses. Motor vehicle liability insurance must cover $1,000,000 per occurrence for owned, hired, leased, and non-owned vehicles. All insurers must maintain an A.M. Best rating of at least A-/VII and be licensed in Connecticut. The Town of Ellington and its agencies must be named as additional insureds on all policies, which must include 15-day advance written notice provisions and waivers of subrogation. Certificates of insurance must be provided before contract execution. Contractors are solely responsible for all deductibles and retention amounts, and procurement and maintenance of required insurance is a condition precedent to performing work under the contract.
