SCOPE OF WORK
4 Lazy F Ranch Barn Roof Repairs
Grand Teton National Park
I. GENERAL
1. Background Information: This Scope of Work (SOW) outlines tasks to perform repairs of the gambrel roof of the barn at the historic 4 Lazy F Ranch in Grand Teton National Park (GTNP). The ranch is located approximately 1.5 miles north of Moose, WY.
The 4 Lazy F Ranch was listed as a historic district in the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 and the Barn is a contributing building. The ranch has been unused for many years and all the buildings are showing signs of deterioration. GTNP has plans to utilize the ranch buildings for seasonal housing in the future, so it’s important to stabilize the buildings now to prevent further deterioration.
The Barn has a gambrel main roof with two low sloped shed roofs on each side with log walls.
The shed roofs have recently been reroofed with green rolled roofing, but the main gambrel roof is original with 3x wood rafter structure, 2x skipped sheathing and 1x wood board and batten roofing. Each side of the gambrel roof also has a series of horizontal 1x “ladders”. A large panel of the wood roofing was blown off the west side of the roof in a windstorm in 2020 and currently has a plywood patch. The structural rafters and cross bracing appear to be in good condition, but the skipped sheathing and board and batten roofing are in poor condition and in need of replacement.
2. Acronyms:
