The drawings are diagrammatic and do not establish construction details or final utility routes.

5.1 Site preparation and demolition

· Remove and legally dispose of the existing training house on the east side of the site, including its slab and footings. Remove associated debris and unsuitable material and backfill and compact the excavation for the proposed improvements.

· Remove trees, other vegetation, and existing landscape rock within the east and north perimeter work areas shown on the demolition drawing. Remove existing curb and gutter and affected pavement as necessary for the new work. Protect the perimeter wall, adjacent structures, the tower, and facilities to remain.

· Locate and protect existing utilities before excavation. Protect and relocate the power serving or crossing the training house area as required to clear demolition and construction; maintain or restore service to facilities designated to remain.

5.2 Grading, paving, and perimeter improvements

· Clear, grub, excavate, grade, and compact the east and north work areas to support the new curb and gutter, pavement, and drainage. Match adjacent grades and maintain positive surface drainage.

· Construct replacement curb and gutter along the north and east perimeter limits indicated on the exterior drawing, approximately 3 feet from the property line wall where shown. Connect the new gutter to the existing curb and gutter at the indicated ends and transitions.

· Install a weed barrier and ¾” red decorative rock 2-4” deep between the back of the curb and perimeter wall in the indicated strip. Prepare the subgrade and patch or place asphalt between the new gutter and existing pavement, including all areas disturbed by construction. Provide smooth, serviceable transitions.

5.3 Underground utilities and bus service points

· Provide trenching and conduit for power from the relocated source toward the northeast corner and south along the east side to the proposed shed at the southeast corner, including backfill and surface restoration. Coordinate conduit size, route, pull points, and termination with the University before installation.

· Provide a new electrical distribution point and 120 V, 20 A receptacles at each east-side upright post shown on the exterior drawing, 12 circuits total as noted there. Include necessary feeders, raceways, devices, supports, and connections. Confirm source capacity, post locations, and electrical design before construction.

· Provide and install a prefabricated approximately 12 ft by 12 ft shed at the southeast corner for bus washing equipment, including delivery, assembly, anchorage, and a suitable prepared base. The anticipated shed material value is $3,000 to $5,000; include the complete furnished and installed cost in the bid. Coordinate final shed selection and placement with Utah Tech before ordering. Provide and connect the water line serving the shed, including a shutoff, appropriate backflow protection, and final termination.

· Furnish, construct, and install a complete RV/bus dump and cleanout station along the south parking lot line at the location shown. Include the sewer inlet and cap, necessary piping and connection to the existing sanitary sewer, and a water spigot and water supply serving the cleanout station, with shutoff and appropriate backflow protection. Field verify utility locations, depths, and connection requirements, and coordinate final locations and connections with Utah Tech. Include all water and sewer work needed for an operational station in the bid.

5.4 Shade structures and walkway

· The steel shade structures have been conceptually designed with Falcon Buildings, a local prefabricated steel structure supplier. The selected contractor may continue working with Falcon Buildings or choose another manufacturer. In either case, the contractor shall provide complete steel shade structures that meet Utah Tech’s design layout along the north and east property lines, subject to Utah Tech review of the proposed design and manufacturer.

· The selected contractor is responsible for coordinating with Utah Tech and the manufacturer to complete engineering drawings for the steel structures and footings, including foundation and anchorage details. The contractor shall coordinate required submittals and inspections and arrange access for footing and structure inspections. Utah Tech will retain Shums Coda as the third-party inspection firm and will pay its inspection fees.

· Excavate, form, reinforce, and place engineered footings for the prefabricated steel shade structures along the north and east parking lot lines shown on the drawings. Furnish and erect the structures, including anchors and incidental installation materials, in accordance with the approved engineered design and manufacturer requirements.

· Construct the walkway connection through the south curb and gutter at the location shown for the proposed prefabricated stairs to Booth Wellness. Coordinate width, elevation, and the interface with the stair work with Utah Tech before placement.

5.5 Execution and closeout

· Coordinate outages, access, staging, utility work, and construction sequencing with the University. Maintain safe access to facilities.

· Comply with applicable authority requirements and approved plans. Submit proposed utility routing, materials, shade-structure foundation and anchorage details, and construction schedule for review before installation.
