About this file

This document details the Minimum Insurance Requirements for contracts with Harris Health, a Texas-based healthcare system. The document outlines comprehensive insurance coverage requirements for contractors, categorized by project size ranging from less than $25 million to over $100 million. Insurance types include Workers' Compensation, Commercial General Liability, Automobile Liability, Umbrella/Excess Liability, and Professional/Errors & Omissions Liability.

The insurance requirements specify precise coverage limits for different project scales, with key stipulations that insurance must be issued by Texas-licensed companies with an A.M. Best rating of at least A-VII. Contractors must provide primary commercial insurance, furnish unaltered insurance certificates, and ensure policies waive subrogation rights against Harris Health. The document mandates that insurance coverage be maintained for a minimum of five years after final project completion, with Harris Health reserved as an additional insured on general liability, automobile, and umbrella liability policies. Failure to maintain required insurance coverage may result in contract termination at Harris Health's discretion.

Where exposure exists, Harris Health may require coverage for watercraft, blasting, collapse, explosions, blowout, cratering, underground damage, pollution, or other coverage.

C. Automobile Liability, including coverage for all owned, hired, and non-owned vehicles used in connection with the

Harris Health reserves the right to require additional insurance if necessary. Coverage shall be issued by companies licensed to do business in Texas by the Texas Department of Insurance. Companies shall have an A.M. Best rating of at least A-VII. If any part of the contract is sublet, insurance shall be provided by or on behalf of any subcontractor, and shall be sufficient to cover their portion of the contract.

Contractor shall furnish evidence of all insurance to Harris Health in the form of unaltered insurance certificates. Policies of insurance shall waive all rights of subrogation against Harris Health, its officers, employees and agents. If any applicable insurance policies are cancelled, materially changed, or non-renewed, contractor shall give written notice to Harris Health at least 30 days prior to such effective date. Contractor shall provide evidence of suitable replacement policies within thirty (30) days after such effective date. Failure to keep in force the required insurance coverage may result in termination of the contract in Harris Health’s sole discretion. Upon request, certified copies of original insurance policies shall be furnished to Harris Health.
