About this file

This file contains work item specifications for repairs and maintenance to be performed on the USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79) under specification number NAPL-014-25. The document outlines four major work items: 1) Main Reduction Gear (MRG) Standby Lube Oil Pump 2B shaft coupling replacement in Engine Room No. 2, 2) Inside Machinery Space lagging and insulation replacement across multiple machinery spaces totaling approximately 427 linear feet of piping insulation and 100 square feet of general insulation, 3) Outside Machinery Space lagging and insulation replacement across 15 different spaces including crew areas and technical spaces, and 4) Crane and rigging support services for the Number 3 Ships Service Gas Turbine Generator (SSGTG) engine repair.

The specifications include detailed requirements for safety protocols, material handling, inspection points, and quality control measures. Government Furnished Material (GFM) is specified for the MRG work item, including one shaft coupling (NSN 3010-01-484-4052) and two shim kits (NSN 5365-01-357-1824/1825). The contractor must provide certification for all crane and rigging operations, protect ship surfaces during work, and complete joint inspections with the Supervisor and Ship's Force upon completion. All work must comply with FY25 Standard Items and includes various verification points marked as (V) and (V)(G) throughout the process. The document includes all changes through January 30, 2025.
