About this file
This is a Form of Bid Bond template provided by Marion County Board of County Commissioners located at 2631 SE 3rd Street, Ocala, FL 34471. The document serves as a standardized form for contractors to submit bid bonds when responding to county procurement opportunities, requiring the contractor (Principal) and surety company to be bound together for a specified dollar amount to guarantee the contractor will enter into a contract if their bid is accepted and provide the required performance and payment bonds.
The bond form includes standard legal language establishing that if the contractor fails to enter into a contract after bid acceptance or fails to provide required bonds, they must pay the county the difference between their bid amount and any higher amount the county must pay another contractor, up to the bond penalty amount. The county allows cashier's checks as an alternative to bid bonds, with payments from the top three ranked firms remaining in custody until contract execution. Firms are responsible for retrieving their bonds or checks after notification, with specific procedures outlined for return via courier services or standard mail upon written request, with the county relieved of liability for lost or misdirected mail.
