About this file
This is a URS Post-Retired Verification Form used by Jordan School District to verify employment status of individuals contracted to provide services. The form is required for all independent contractors and 1099 employees and must be submitted along with a W-9 to the Accounting Department. Contractors, owners, partners, or principals who have retired from Utah Retirement Systems (URS) must disclose their retirement status, provide their birthdate, specify the type of business being provided, and sign and date the form. The form applies to all work performed as either an employee through payroll or as a business/independent contractor through accounting for any participating URS employer.
URS retirees receiving monthly benefits face restrictions on returning to work with participating employers. Failure to report reemployment to URS on the Post-Retirement Employment form (Form RTRT-27A) in violation of Utah Code Section 49-11-1207(2) results in liability for the retiree to repay URS any overpayment amounts. Retirees are directed to contact URS's Retirement Benefits Department at 801-366-7770 before beginning work with Jordan School District to complete and file the required Post-Retirement Employment form. This verification requirement ensures compliance with Utah retirement regulations and protects both the district and the retiree from potential violations.

Retirees receiving a monthly benefit from URS have restrictions when returning to work. If it is discovered that a URS retiree failed to report reemployment to URS on its Post-
Retirement Employment form (Form RTRT-27A) in violation of Title 49, the retiree will be liable to repay URS the amount of any overpayment resulting from the violation to report. See Utah code section 49-11-1207(2).
*The retiree is directed to contact URS's Retirement Benefits Department at 801-
366-7770 before beginning work with Jordan District. You will be asked to complete and file a Post-Retirement Employment form (Form RTRT-27A).
