About this file
This is an Addenda to Solicitation (Amendment No. 02) issued by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory for solicitation 383185-RK titled "PIP-II Booster GMPS Capacitors." The amendment was issued on August 19, 2026, with a proposal due date of August 28, 2026. Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this amendment immediately via email to the FFDG Procurement Specialist, Richard Konan (rkonan@fnal.gov).
The addendum addresses six questions and answers regarding capacitor design specifications. Key clarifications include: the exterior case dimensions must fit within the envelope specified in Section 4.2 of the specification document; capacitance values cannot deviate from Section 3.1 requirements; Dimension B (terminal-to-terminal distance) has a minimum value of 5.75 inches with vendor flexibility to propose larger values; terminal threads must be either ½-13 UNC or M12-1.75; terminal collar diameter is at vendor discretion provided all other specifications are met; and PEEK material is acceptable for the terminal collar, with reference to SAND2013-8003P regarding radiation-tolerant polymers. All other terms and conditions of the original solicitation remain unchanged.

ADDENDA TO SOLICITATION
ADDENDA NO. 02 DATE OF AMENDMENT: AUGUST 19, 2026
SOLICITATION NO. 383185-RK DATE ISSUED: AUGUST 19, 2026
PROJECT NO. PROPOSAL DUE DATE: AUGUST 28, 2026
TITLE OF PROJECT: PIP-II BOOSTER GMPS CAPACITORS
Bidders must acknowledge this amendment immediately upon receipt by one of the following methods:
• Via email to the FFDG Procurement Specialist
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. Is this the optimum design profile?
The exterior dimensions of the case are limited by the available installation space and must fit within the envelope provided in Section 4.2 of the specification document.
2. Are other capacitance values (smaller or larger) acceptable?
No. The capacitance value must meet the requirements specified in Section 3.1 of the specification document.
3. What is the value of Dimension B, terminal-to-terminal distance?
Dimension B has a minimum value of 5.75 inches. The vendor may propose a larger value.
4. What is the thread type for the terminals?
½-13 UNC or M12-1.75.
5. What is the terminal collar diameter?
The terminal collar diameter is at the vendor’s discretion, provided all other specification requirements are met.
6. We are proposing using PEEK material for the terminal collar. Is that acceptable?
Yes. PEEK is acceptable for this application. The following reference may also be consulted regarding radiation-tolerant materials: SAND2013-8003P, An Overview of Basic Radiation Effects on Polymers, G. Von White et al., Sandia National Laboratories, September 2013
