Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery is located in Ft. Mitchell, AL. The existing system consists of two wells that produce approximately 300 GPM each and discharge into a 100,000 GAL tank. The wells draw from an aquifer that causes rust staining on the headstones. This project is intended to install a well system sufficient to provide 105,000 GPD from a source free of staining.
1. Contractor shall completely prepare site for construction operations, furnish all labor and materials, and perform all work as required by this scope of work and the attached specifications, including:
• the abandonment of the two (2) existing irrigation wells per Alabama regulations;
• the drilling of test well;
• Confirm the installation of four (4) 7.5 H.P. submersible pumps complete with all wiring, piping, controllers, VFDs, and the manifold and controls to tie the new wells into the existing irrigation system;
• Assumes the existing pump control equipment will be sufficient;
• Supplying and installing all enclosures for the new wells, which shall be vaults at grade (or recommend an alternative);
• the restoration of the site.
2. After test well is complete, Contractor shall submit samples from each well to a lab to determine levels of iron and magnesium and to determine the pH.
3. Goals of this project are to provide a pumping system sufficient to provide 105,000 GPD with iron and magnesium at levels that preclude staining on headstones.
4. PROJECT DURATION: 90 Calendar Days from Notice to Proceed.
