Fort Smith National Cemetery, 522 S 6th St, Fort Smith, AR 72901
A. The Contractor: Shall furnish all labor, material, equipment, and supervision necessary to renovate the interior of the Administration office building (former lodge) at Fort Smith
National Cemetery including but not limited to minor demolition, drywall installation and finishing, flooring (porcelain and luxury vinyl tiles), wall and trim painting, millwork replacement, staircase renovation, and bathroom and kitchen remodel in accordance with drawings, specifications, and per applicable standards and requirements.
B. Background: A recent lead-based paint survey (utilizing X-ray fluorescence) revealed positive results for the door jambs and window frames (both first and second floors), and second floor (only) baseboards. The scope of this project does not include any abatement besides total removal and disposal of the lead paint-contaminated quarter round molding on the second floor to accommodate the flooring installation. This facility is not a child care facility nor a residence; therefore, this scope will not require compliance with the EPA
Renovation, Repair, and Painting Rule. However, certain best practices from the EPA rule will be specified to maximize the safety of workers and building occupants.
C. The Work: Shall include, but shall not be limited to the following (not necessarily in the order indicated):

1.2. Remove and dispose of the three fireplace tile thresholds and wood transitions in the Director’s Office, Foreman’s Office, and Reception.
1.3. Prepare floor in accordance with vinyl plank manufacturer's recommended instructions. Do not install on surfaces that are unsuitable and will prevent a proper installation. Floors that are in poor condition and that will not yield a level finish shall be repaired. The floors shall be completely dry before installation begins.
Repair holes, cracks, depressions, or rough areas using material recommended by the plank manufacturer. The floor must be level and smooth with all protrusions leveled.
1.4. Install snap-in luxury vinyl plank flooring with attached underlayment, rigid core, and at least 20 mil- (0.508 mm) thick wear layer (such as Shaw Floors Largo MIX
Plus or approved equal) as indicated on the drawings. Submit color select to COR for approval of finished product prior to ordering materials. Pattern line shall include an option to match the existing (already exposed) hardwood floor color and grain as closely as possible.

2. Demo Reception Fireplace Surround
2.1. Demo the faux fireplace millwork, including the casing and mantle, in the
Reception Office. The fireplace paint is not considered lead paint by EPA definition, but it does contain lead in smaller quantities (i.e. less than 1 mg/cm²).
2.2. For removal, the Contractor shall take necessary steps to ensure no dust or debris leaves work area while the removal is being performed. Building occupants will still be on the first floor during this work.
2.3. Before start of work comply with requirements for worker protection and respiratory protection. All workers shall have OSHA training about the dangers inherent in handling lead and breathing or ingesting lead dust and in the proper work procedures and personal and area protective measures prior to the time of initial job assignment. Do not allow eating, drinking, smoking, chewing tobacco or gum, or applying cosmetics in the Work Area. Shut down any air handling equipment bringing air into or out of the Work Area.

Sweep debris while wet and place in 6 mil disposal bags; seal with duct tape and move to designated waste storage area.
2.5. Patch, repair, and finish (mud and tape) the drywall in preparation for painting as necessary.
3. Demo Wood Paneling
