3.) All other terms, conditions and specifications of this solicitation remain unchanged.

Tallulah Slater Contract Specialist Omaha Urn Crypt RFI Responses

1. How may urn crypt openings? Pre-solicitation Notice says 3,200 and Solicitation, Offer, & Award says 3264. As shown on drawing sheets CS 104/105, 3264 openings

2. Dirt Disposal – Can excess dirt be disposed of on-site or does it have to go off-site? Excess dirt is to be disposed off-site.

3. Can Rainbird product be substituted for Toro? Specs call for Toro. Follow the specifications.

4. Can the drain from the Flower Water Station be tied to the crypt drain or does it have to go to an existing Storm Drain?

The flower water station can tie into the crypt drain system.

5. Traffic Control Signs on Plan sheets CJ-501 & 502 – “Concrete or Metal Post” – What size or gauge?

A concrete post is intended for the section marker as shown in detail 4/CJ-501. The metal posts for traffic control signs are specified in section 10 14 00.

6. On Plan sheet CJ-502, Detail 2 – Flower Water Station – The detail calls for the post to be steel. Specification 32.30.00, paragraph 2.5,A,6,a calls for the post to be aluminum. Which is correct?

The posts for the flower watering station are to match the existing watering stations on the cemetery. Existing posts are 4” square 11-gauge steel.

7. On Plan sheet CJ-505, Detail 4 for Temporary Construction Fence calls for the wind screen to be green. There is no other spec. for this. Also, the specifications call for the fence and posts to be black vinyl coated. Is this correct for “Temporary Fence”?

The temporary construction fence should meet the specification sections 32 31 13 and the general requirements. Please note in addition to the wind screen’s color, the screen is to be constructed from a wind permeable fabric and secured to remained soundly in place. Damage to the privacy fence due to wind is a concern for this project.

8. Plan Sheet CE-102, Detail 4 shows Riprap at the 6” crypt drain outfall and roadway headwall. There is no specification for this material or a gradation given.

Detail 4 on CE-102 for specifies NDOR type A Rip Rap should be used at the drain outfall and headwall.

9. Sheets CE-101 and CE-102 call for temporary construction fence along the west side of the construction area only. Please confirm that this is the only location necessary for temporary construction fence and privacy screen.

This is correct. Temporary construction fence was specified along the western portion of the construction area to shield views from the cortege lane and existing burial sections.

10. Also, there are a considerable amount of utility lines in the grading area shown on sheet CG-101. There are call outs on the plan sheets to “Protect Existing Underground Utilities”. Can we get the depths of these utilities? The CAD files would also help with this.

It is the contractor’s responsibility to field verify depth of utilities.

11. With the grading swales shown on sheet CG-101, will this not affect the minimum depths of the existing utilities? In particular, the water and sewer lines are required to maintain a minimum cover depth to prevent freezing. Will the contractor be required to lower these lines if the grading reduces the minimum cover?

The sanitary sewer and watermain are generally installed under areas of to receive fill. In those areas where excavation is anticipated, the as built depth is reported as 7-9 feet for sanitary sewer and 8 feet for watermain. The maximum cut over these utilities is 2.5 feet. The contractor should verify the depth of existing sanitary sewer and watermain and that the resulting minimum cover is not less than 5 feet. If minimum depths would not be achieved, the engineer would provide a revised grading plan for the swale side slope to the maintenance yard for additional cover. It is not expected that the contractor would be required to lower existing utilities.

12. Sheet CA-101 Shows 8 inlets to receive silt protection and sheet CE-101 shows an additional 3 inlets, for a total of 11. Is this correct?

That is correct, eleven inlets are shown as protected.

13. Sheets CA-101, CA-102 and CE-101 shows 2 different layouts of silt fence required for this project. Is this intended, or is expected that the silt fence and tree protection from sheets CA-101, 102 will be installed and removed prior to the silt fence shown on CE-101?

Two layouts were intended. Additional silt fence will be required as construction progresses (around area of cul-de-sac grading, along length of new street section, etc.…) It is expected that the silt fence installed on CA-101 and CA-102 be modified as required as construction progresses. It is not intended that all silt fence installed as part of CA-101 and CA-102 work be removed prior to installation of CE-101 work.

14. Sheet CE-102 and CA-102 shows the same fence around the tree area next to the construction staging area to be protected. Is there a delineation between the tree protection fence and the silt fence for this or is it intended that both silt fence and tree protection fencing will be required to completely encircle this area? Also, if silt fence is being utilized for runoff from the grading, is the tree protection fence even necessary?

Silt fence does not need to be installed in this area. Tree protection fence is to be installed per detail 5/CJ-505. One continuous tree protection fence is to encircle the existing forested area such that the distance of the fence from the tree line is not less than two times the radius of the “dripline” for any tree.

15. On sheet CE-102, it calls for a Flared End Section for the drainage pipe into the riprap swale and sheet CU-101 calls for a “Back Flow Preventer”. The notes reference detail 3 on sheet CL-506. The detail calls for a Rodent Shield on the FES. A backflow preventer for this application would typically be a flap gate mounted on the wall face of the FES. My question is, do we install a rodent shield (grate) on the FES or a flap gate, or both? Also, there are no specifications regarding the backflow preventer. Does this need to be Stainless Steel, Cast or other? Also, what kind of finish?

The backflow preventer was specified under specification section 33 40 00 section 2.4. An inline backflow preventer has been specified and should not conflict with the rodent shield.

16. On sheet CS-102, the only area that is described as limits of ETO is the crypts area and nothing outside of that. There is additional work associated with this section called out in the general requirements of the specifications. Can we get a clear list of what all is anticipated to be completed with the ETO? The limits are not all encompassing follow the ETO /Phasing in the general requirements section of the specifications.

17. Is that calendar days or work days? Calendar

18. Does the government have an intended NTP date? Based on this, it may not be feasible to complete the ETO in the stipulated time frame given that portions of this work are weather dependent. Government anticipates NTP between mid-July and August 1st

19. The ETO is stipulated to be complete in 150 days and the SF 1442 dictates that there are only 210 calendar days for the complete project. Is this correct? Will we only have 60 additional days to complete burial section 8 and the remaining work items for the complete duration of the project? Yes This concludes Amendment 0002
