About this file

This document is a Technical Questions and Responses Tracking Sheet for Solicitation #36C77625R0044, a construction project for EHRM Infrastructure Upgrades at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. The document contains 55 technical questions and responses from potential contractors, covering detailed aspects of the project such as telecommunications infrastructure, fiber optic cabling, access control systems, video surveillance, fire alarm systems, and facility modifications. Key technical clarifications include requirements for fiber optic cabling (6-strand armored OS2 fiber), conduit specifications, access control panel relocations, and specific details about technology room conversions and infrastructure upgrades.

The solicitation involves comprehensive infrastructure improvements, with specific focus on technology rooms, telecommunications systems, and related infrastructure components. Responses indicate the project will utilize existing systems from manufacturers like Honeywell (Fire Alarm), Johnson Controls (Building Management), and Lenel (Access Control), with new installations requiring coordination with VA personnel. The project allows work during regular hours, requires ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scanning before concrete penetrations, and mandates compliance with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) procedures. The VA Technology Acquisition Center in Austin is managing the solicitation, with a technical approach emphasizing precise coordination and existing system integration.

On Sheet TN411 Sheet Keynotes 6 states (it is also listed as Keynote 7 on sheet TN432) “Coordinate with COR prior to relocation of access control panels for exact location.” This note is typical throughout the drawings.

a. Do these only serve the current room they are located in?

b. If the access controls panels are to be installed in a different location, then new wires will need to be pulled to each device. To price this the location of and quantity of devices will need to be provided.

TN411 Keynote #6 indicates that existing access control panels need removed from the wall due to wall construction, and reinstalled at the same location. This would not require complete relocation of the existing panels.

Scope of the project does not include relocation of existing access control panels to new locations. Coordination notes are included for new panel locations within the new TR. Cabling of Telecom Room card readers should utilize existing access control panel locations to the fullest ability.

There is no specification section for clean agent system for this project. Is this required? If so, provide specifications and locations where the system is to be installed.

This design (for every TR in scope) does not show to have utilization of a dry chem suppression system. Therefore, no specification or documentation is present or provided. Dry chem systems is not a scope requirement.

Is there any work required on the existing CRAC’s located in rooms BA112E or 9A123A? The CRAC in room 9A123A was not running during the site walk.

No. Subject CRAC units are being scoped on another project.

Detail C1 / TN432 Keynote 6 states “existing equipment to be relocated to location indicated in phasing plan”. This is for an existing fire alarm plan. Detail C6 / TN432 shows where the existing fire alarm panel is to be relocated. Are the existing fire alarm wire connected to this panel long enough for the relocate or will new fire alarm wire need pulled to existing devices? This would be typical for all locations where fire alarm panels are being relocated.

In cases where a TR is not being relocated, only expanded and modified – it can be assumed length of the wiring is suffice. Otherwise, assume that wiring in place will require demo/removal and new wiring pulls conducted to relocated points identified.

The Information Outlet Schedule on Drawings TG603 calls out W-E to be demo for position 1 jack type. This outlet is shown on the new outlet drawings not the demo. Please advise if these locations are new CAT6A or not. If it is new how many drops in this location is require?

Refer to floor plans for new cabling locations and quantities. Information outlet schedule on TG603 with ports identified as DATA indicate new cabling quantities in faceplate.

Intent of question is not clear. Provide assumption of pathway within Bid.

11
06/12/2025

TG602 does not show fiber being ran to TR GD108. Please confirm there does not need to be any A or B side fiber ran to this TR.

Spec section 27 13 23 – 2 Part 2.2F call for OS2 to be two different types of fiber, dielectric, tight buffered than also calls for it to be loose-tube gel filled. Please confirm what type of OS2 is required for this project.

Indoor/Outdoor OS2 fiber is acceptable for underground applications.

13
06/12/2025

TG601 calls for OS2 fiber to be 6-strand but spec 27 13 23 call out using 12 or 24 strand. Please confirm what strand OS2 is required for the TRs not called out in the keynotes

6-strand fiber is not to be included in this project.

14
06/12/2025

Please confirm if the fiber is to be armored or unarmored.

Armored.

15
06/12/2025
