About this file

This document is a set of Answered Questions for a VA furniture procurement solicitation (RFQ 36C26326Q0239) for the Iowa City VA Health Care System. The questions and answers provide critical logistical details about furniture installation, including confirmed access via a loading dock, use of a shared freight elevator, and delivery requirements to the 9th floor. The installation will occur in an unoccupied space, with vendors required to check-in and be approved for daily access.

The solicitation is a 100% small business set-aside for furniture procurement, with a NAICS code of 337127 and a size standard of 500 employees. The VA anticipates a single firm fixed-price contract award for furniture supplies. Key dates include a technical question deadline of 1/22/2026 at 10:00am CST and quote submission deadline of 2/06/2026 at 10:00am CST. Vendors must be registered in SAM and will submit quotes via email to the contract specialist, Mark Clayburne. The installation preference is for weighted furniture versus bolted, and the total delivery distance from dock to installation location is approximately 390 feet.

Questions

1. It appears that perhaps this is a new build but if not, is there any furniture that needs to be removed? Nothing needs to be removed.

2. The SOW states that the furniture can be weighted or bolted down. Is there a preference for which way they would like the furniture secured? Bolting down, of course, has to be very precise and is immovable once done and the price is higher. Weighted is preferred.

3. What is the access to the building, specifically:

· Is there a loading dock at the building where the furniture is to be installed? Yes

4. If not, where would we unload, and do we need a lift gate? Lift gate not needed as there is a dock. However, the vendor will need to unload and deliver product to the 9th floor.

5. How far from that location to the building? All inside, about 390 feet from dock to freight elevator.

6. Is there a freight elevator or will we have to use a different type of elevator? Shared or exclusive use? Freight elevator, shared use with facilities.

· Is there any sort of staging area available? No

· Does personnel need to be escorted at all times? Vendor/Visitors need to check-in and be approved for the day they are present.

· Will the space be occupied by patients when we install? No
