About this file
This document is a Solicitation Amendment for a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) procurement to replace grossing stations across VISN 23 medical facilities. The procurement seeks to replace 8 grossing stations across five VA medical centers: 4 in Minneapolis, and 1 each in Omaha (NWI), Fargo, Central Iowa, and Iowa City. The grossing stations must be Maestro Encore brand or equal, with detailed specifications including dimensions, sink configuration, air flow detection, integrated filtration, lighting, electrical receptacles, work surfaces, monitoring capabilities, and additional features like shelving, drawers, and mounting tracks.
The solicitation requires vendors to provide new equipment with specific installation, training, and warranty requirements. Vendors must remove existing grossing stations, install new equipment, and perform full system testing and certification. The installation includes providing onsite training for up to 8 people across multiple shifts, ensuring HVAC system integration, and delivering equipment within 60 days of order receipt. All equipment must be new, in current production, and come with a 1-year warranty including preventative maintenance services. Delivery is restricted to specified VA medical centers between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.

Traci Johannes Contracting Officer Statement of Work VISN 23 Grossing Station Replacement Procurement
I. Background: Several sites in VISN 23 are in need of replacing their current grossing stations in the Histology Laboratories. These grossing stations have reached the end of their life expectancy and we have begun to see an increase in the stations experiencing issues that require a service call. The increased downtime of these machines greatly impacts the speed and efficiency of the labs throughout the VISN in performing specimen examination. Additionally, the labs are seeking a newer model of grossing station which has additional features that would increase the speed, efficiency, and safety of the staff performing specimen examinations.
II. Purpose of Project: Replace 8 grossing stations throughout VISN 23. Specifically, 4 in Minneapolis and 1 each in Omaha (NWI), Fargo, Central Iowa, and Iowa City. Each of these sites have grossing stations that are past their life expectancy and are experiencing an increase in service calls.
