Solicitation 36C26324B0002 Amendment 0001 - Questions, Answers, and Clarifications Note that similar questions from multiple potential bidders may have been combined for convenience.

Government’s Answer: Asbestos quantities, if any, will be very minimal as the only place it could be encountered in this project is where the gas pipe penetrates the Laundry building wall.

Question 3: Ref: Div 22/23. If PE pipe is acceptable, is boring the pipe in acceptable?
Government’s Answer: Boring in the pipe is an acceptable method.
Question 4: Ref: Div 22/23. If steel pipe is required, can you specify protection of pipe for direct bury application?
Government’s Answer: Polyethylene piping is acceptable for underground usage.
Question 5: Ref: Div 22/23. Can you provide a spec or selection for the underground gas valves.
Government’s Answer: Please see spec 23 11 23 – 8

Are private location services to be used at a cost to the contractor?
Government’s Answer: Yes, private location services are to be used at a cost to the Contractor. Also, please note that the As-Built Utility Drawings included with this
Amendment are **FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY** and shall not be relied upon by the successful bidder. These drawings are not a substitute for private location services to verify utilities.
Question 7: Are there irrigation lines that need to be located by the VA or General Contractor? Repaired under contract?
Government’s Answer: There are no irrigation lines in the project area.
Question 8: Is sod or grass seed to be used after backfill of the excavation? Is there a Spec?
Government’s Answer: Seed over the excavation. The Specs can be found in 31 20 11–14.
Question 9: Should the gas pipe be painted dark bronze going up the side of the building? If so, can you provide a Spec?
Government’s Answer: Stainless steel piping does not need to be painted going up the side of the building.
Question 10: Can the SSHO/QC/SS be the same CP?
Government’s Answer: No, the SSHO, QC, and SS must be different.
Question 11: Are the systems to be commissioned starting under spec 01 91 00 – 14 all to be included?
Government’s Answer: The only applicable commissioning system listed in spec 01 91 00 is shown below. The rest may be disregarded.
Clarification 1: Lenth of Pipe. The total length from the tee joint to the termination point inside of the laundry building is approximately 185 linear feet. The Solicitation and Attachments had several references to this length being approximately 450 linear feet.
Clarification 2: Building Penetration Height. The height of the penetration into the Laundry Building is approximately 17 feet high from the ground level.
Clarification 3: Driveway Trenching. During the trenching of the driveway the goal is to always keep ½ of it open at all times for traffic. What has worked in the past is the Contractor would trench the first half, then cover it with a thick enough sheet of 4x8 steel (or something similar and suitable) so that it would allow traffic in and out of the area. They would then proceed to the next half and use the same technique. The concrete pouring would then take place with the idea to use that same piece of steel to allow traffic in and out of the area.
Clarification 4: Several potential bidders have asked if this contract opportunity is open to VOSBs. It is not directly open to VOSBs or any other group other than SDVOSBs. This contract is 100% Set-Aside for SDVOSBs and has been since the original Solicitation was posted. It as allowable for a VOSB, or other small business, to be a subcontractor of an SDVOSB, who is the Prime Contractor Bidder. See 4.23
