Solicitation Questions and Answers

Question
Answer
1.
Drawing G1004 Note 2
The amendment #01 answer to question #1 on the Triatek monitors states, “meets all requirements” and “meet the minimum standard by the VA”. These requirements and standards are not provided. These Triatek monitors are $2000 each. There are comparable monitors available for under $300. We will need a few of them to perform the work so the cost is substantial. Please clarify the minimum requirements you are referring to.
The intent of infection control isolation is to protect patients and therefore construction operations need to be directed to contain dust and particulate matter within the construction areas. The Government does not dictate means and methods, but the monitor used must meet the standards of the Triatek monitor or better.

2.

Asking about lead paint, the answer was “if lead paint is encountered during construction, the spec will cover it.” If lead paint is encountered, will an RFP be issued to cover the costs or are we to include costs for an undisclosed amount of lead paint that may or may not be discovered?
Since the lead paint survey did not identify lead paint, then do not include it in your proposal. If lead paint is encountered during construction, it will be paid for in a modification to the contract.

3.

The Geotechnical report that is referenced on drawing CS101 for back fill material under paving and sidewalks. The Geotechnical report provided in this Amendment 0001 is from 2016 and references backfill material for vaults and utility trenches and not for the walks and exterior concrete pavement that is on the two details on CS101 that reference a report.
Follow the geotechnical report for placement and compaction of structural fill. Soil boring #4 is close to the pavement replacement area so the recommendations and boring logs are relevant. For the details shown below; the concrete pavement section (5/CS101) should be used to replace the asphalt pavement being demolished and the sidewalk concrete (6/CS101) should be used for any sidewalk replacement. Detail 2/CS100 shows the location of the concrete pavement section with callout and detail reference. The structural drawings should show the columns/footings/stoop concrete details.
