Solicitation #36C26225Q1160 Fire Protection Systems at the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System Questions and Answers
1. Can you please provide us with the serial number and model number of the pump in building 501? (Even a photo of the plate on the pump would be suffice) This will help better quote the project. The repack kits are specific to whichever pump they are needed for. Please see pictures below.
2. Will there be a site walk for this project? Yes, there will be a site walk for this project.
3. Will we have access to drawings or blueprints for this project? No.
4. Is there any job walk we can schedule for tomorrow? Or Could you please provide pictures for the site? Yes, there will be a site walk for this project. Please refer to Question #1 pictures.
5. Will a site visit be scheduled to allow offerors the ability to review the scope of work to determine the extent and difficulties associated with the tasks being requested? Sprinklers can vary greatly in price depending on several factors and a sprinkler relocation can be as simple as extending a pipe, or as complicated as cutting into larger pipe and running new pipe and routing around obstructions. For offerors to provide accurate and competitive pricing, we’ll need to know the SIN (sprinkler identification number) or determine the properties of the sprinklers requiring replacement and additional details on the effort associated with relocating sprinklers, which can all be obtained through a site visit.
Yes, there will be a site walk for this project. Sprinkler Identification number will be answered during the site visit.
6. Is all work expected to be performed in areas with exposed sprinklers and piping? If not, why type of ceiling system is in place in the areas of work? Drop Ceiling
0. If drywall (hard lid) ceilings are present and access is not sufficient to perform the work to relocate sprinklers, will the VA provide support for cutting new access holes in the ceilings and either patching/painting or installing access panels? N/A
b. If not, is the Prime Contractor required to include this work in their quote? N/A
7. Will special protocols be required for containment when working above ceilings such as a HEPA containment unit? No
a. If so, will the VA provide the required containment units, or will the contractor be required to provide their own? Infection Control Measures and Contractor is required to provide containments if necessary.
8. Can you please confirm the make, model, and serial number of the existing fire pump and fire pump controller in Building 214? Please refer to Question #1 pictures.
9. Is the existing fire pump to remain online and operational until the new fire pump in Building 214 is completely replaced and final inspection and sign off is completed by Facilities Personnel? This will be in building 501 not building 214.
a. If so, is there sufficient space in the fire pump room to install the new fire pump while also having the old fire pump operational until the installation is completed and then the demolition of the old fire pump can be completed? No
b. If the plan is to demolish the old fire pump and install the new fire pump, who is responsible for providing fire watch for the duration the fire sprinkler system in not operational?
Isolate sprinkler lines, Jocky Pump remains online, replacement should be completed in 8 hrs or less.
10. Building 501, for the packing of the fire pump, can you please provide the existing make, model, and serial number for the fire pump and controller? Please refer to Question #1 pictures.
