Amendment Questions and Answers
1. Q & A response #2 calls for a 15 GPM pump. Should this be 1.5GPM? 15 gallons per minute would result in a 900 GHP fuel load and those specifications cannot be met.
The 15 GPM is to refill the day tank which is the rate that the tank was refilled before the pumps had an issue with the current system. Pumps are not meant to run continuously only for the period of time it takes to refill tank which could be a couple of minutes. Analog pressure gauges should be installed pre and post fuel filters for day tank to confirm flow rate.
The refill pump needs to include electrical logic to shut down the pump after the day tank is filled that is redundant in the event the tank level indicator fails and prevents the pump from overfilling the tank.
2. What permits are required for the project? Is all permitting done through the VA, or is the Local CUPA involved in permitting the tank installation?
The double wall tank needs to be lifted and pass through the entrance door to be placed adjacent to generator. Safety will review the plan for placing the tank within the building.
3. Do HCAI/OSHPD standards apply?
As this is a day tank permitting by the city is not required.
