About this file

This document contains an amendment to a solicitation for three mobile operating room trailers. The amendment provides answers to potential offerors' questions to clarify requirements. The mobile operating room trailers will be procured under FAR Part 12 and Part 13 for the VA Northern California Health Care System. Each trailer must be 40 feet or longer and include transportation, commissioning, setup and training. Offerors must acknowledge receipt of the amendment by the specified date. The applicable NAICS code is 321991 and size standard is 1,000 employees. The Federal Supply Code is 2330. Quotes are due 30 days after issuance of the solicitation unless extended by amendment. Clarifications provided include confirming wheelchair accessibility via lift for each trailer, allowing separate modular units to meet ceiling height requirements, identifying the building automation system as Johnson Controls Metasys, specifying fire detection and suppression requirements, and noting medical gas and equipment mounting requirements.

The purpose of this amendment is to answer RFIs #32 through #

RFI #32: “The trailer shall support wheelchair access (lift) if it was standalone.” Does this mean that each of the three trailers shall include a gurney lift as used in a Mobile CT or Mobile MRI trailer?

Answer: A gurney lift would be appropriate for each trailer.

RFI #33: In order to meet the minimum 9’6” ceiling height required across the entire OR, may the OR trailer consist of multiple modular units that arrive separately then are connected on site?

Answer: No the unit should be stand alone unit expandable to meet ceiling height limits with minimal work for activating the unit.

RFI #34: Please identify the brand and model number with which the bacNET system needs to connect.

Answer: Johnson Controls Metasys system for Building automation.

RFI #35: What type of fire protection system is required? Wet or dry?

Answer: See Utility Requirements in the scope of work. The trailer shall include a fire detection system to include a main detection control panel, 3 horn strobe locations, 2 pull stations, 3 photoelectric smoke detectors. The trailer shall also include 2 CO/smoke detector, and two (2) 5lb ABC type dry-chemical fire extinguisher with wall mounts.

RFI #36: Are we to include the ramp in the trailer or will a lift work in place of the ramp?

Answer: See answer to RFI 19 and RFI 32.
