About this file
These documents are semi-annual inspection reports for fire suppression and ventilation systems at the VA Medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon, dated 8/28/25. The reports cover three separate kitchen hood systems: a canteen hood, a main hood, and another hood system, each with distinct inspection details.
Key findings include routine maintenance checks on kitchen fire suppression systems, with most items passing inspection. Notable issues were identified in the main hood system, including electrical appliances not shutting down automatically during system trip and a cracked test pipe elbow leaking during testing. The inspections covered multiple system components such as nozzle positioning, water pressure, damper functionality, fire indicators, and overall system compliance with NFPA standards. Recommendations include replacing the current water spray system with a wet chemical fire protection system and addressing the electrical shutdown and pipe leak problems. The systems were primarily electric, with gas cooking equipment, and used various control cabinets and ventilation models.
