About this file

This document contains questions and responses related to solicitation number 36C25923Q0425 for steam trap survey and repair services. The contractor will be required to provide 30 steam traps for replacement during the base year and 30 traps each option year for a Veterans Affairs medical facility. Technical acceptability will be evaluated based on the contractor's past performance on similar services. While the solicitation originally specified cast iron traps, the response clarifies that only steel traps meeting the latest VA technical standards will be allowed, with flanged connections required for traps 1.5 inches or greater. The VA will not provide a tax exemption certificate to the awarded contractor.

QUESTIONS AND RESPONSES

1. The RFQ has varying number of traps to be replaced each year. Please confirm that during base year, it is expected to replace 30 traps and that in each subsequent option year, it is expected to also replace 30 traps. Provide

30 steam traps during the base year, and 30 each contract option year for the

Phase 2 portion of the services.

2. Section E4. for evaluation states that technical acceptability is included in the evaluation criteria, but we do not see any direction on what to submit for this factor. How will technical acceptability be rated for this RFQ ? Past performance of similar services.

3. Page 11 of the RFQ calls for Cast Iron F&T or Bucket traps. The latest VA

TIL requires steel traps and also requires flanged connections on 1.5" and greater. Does the VA want cast iron threaded traps under this maintenance contract or are contractors to install per the latest VA TIL

Requirements? True. Cast iron is not allowed in VA steam systems. All traps shall be steel.

4. Will a tax-exempt certification be provided to the awarded contractor? The

VA will not provide TAX EXEMPT CERTIFICATE.
