About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document containing 11 vendor questions and government responses regarding a solicitation for daycare furniture for Building 75. The key change revealed in the responses is that installation services are no longer required as part of this contract - all furniture items will be shipped directly to the government's warehouse where the VA's own installation team will handle installation.
The government has approved a three-day extension for bid submissions due to the removal of labor/installation costs from the scope. The childcare center is located on the first floor of an existing building. While the original installation target was the end of February, that date has passed and the government wants to schedule as soon as possible. Vendors delivering to the warehouse will have access to loading docks and dumpsters but must clean up after themselves. The responses clarify that securing furniture items to walls for safety will not be part of this solicitation.

1. What is the no earlier than date you project the building ready for the installation? The original goal was for everything to be installed by end of February. Since that date is missed, we are wanting to schedule as soon as we can.
2. What is the no later than date when you want the FF&E installed? The original goal was for everything to be installed by end of February. Since that date is missed, we are wanting to schedule as soon as we can.
3. Is there a loading dock at this building that we may use for unloading?
Due to shipping directly to our warehouse, there is a loading dock for delivery.
4. Is this childcare (CC) center located on the ground floor of the building? If not, may we use a freight elevator to transport the FF&E to the Child Care Center? Located on the 1st floor.
5. Is the building into which this CC Center is being furnished in a new construction building and if so what is the name of the GC? This is an existing space.
6. Will the building be occupied prior to the FF&E installation? As this will be directly shipped to our warehouse, installation will not be required.
7. May we utilize trash dumpsters for packing materials or are we responsible for backhauling all the trash off premises? Your team will be responsible for unloading products in our warehouse, if trash occurs due to this, they will need to clean up after themselves. Dumpsters are available though at our warehouse.
8. Does the government desire everything to be installed or only certain items installed with the balance placed in storage? This will be directly shipped to our warehouse and our VA installation team will do the install.
9. Some of these items are recommended to be secured into a wall to prevent tipping. Is securing these items into the wall part of this contract or will the GC be securing items? We are requesting that installation not be included in this solicitation.
10. Approximately what is the difference between the loading dock or access doors in the building and the childcare center and may we use dollies and carts to transport the items down the hallways? Loading dock will be available at our warehouse were we are requesting these items to be shipped.
11. Would you please grant us a three day extension for the submission? We approve an extension due to the adjustment of removing the labor costs and having everything directly shipped to our warehouse.
