Request for Informa on 8/27/2024

1. Q: What is the approximate square footage of the roof area that needs to be inves gated for leaks?

A: 1100SQ is the approximate test area size.

2. Q: How many/which dormer(s) are the repairs to be performed on? See a ached satellite shots of the property (Page 1&2), iden fying the building that we understand to be Bldg. 12, and then a closeup showing there are 6 dormers (I have labelled them 1‐6 for ease of reference)

A: Dormers 2 & 3 are to be tested and repaired. Please note photo south of dormer 2 there is an exhaust unit for the elevator that should be tested and repaired if required. The Statement of

Work has been modified to clarify this.

3. Q: Is there an ASTM spec the VA would want us to use for waterproofing products? We assume there are likely two different types of waterproofing the government would choose from for this project: fluid‐applied or sheet membrane.

A: We have not specified a specific product. Product selec on will be done through submi al basis prior to repairs. Your assump on is correct that for roof repairs sheet membrane and new metal flashing would be appropriate. Fluid applied may not be the best solu on. Around windows would be a silicone base sealant that is either paintable or paint matched to exis ng windows.

4. Q: What brand/style/color is the roof le (in case we have to replace some that may break during removal)? Is there "a c stock" that we could pull from and avoid needing to order replacement les, if necessary?

A: The exis ng les are circa 1930 and we yet have not found any maker’s mark. Contractor will be required to match le with modern product and provide submi al for VA approval.

5. Q: Are there any site photos that we can view, so we can have an understanding of the construc on materials we would be working with on the dormers (e.g. siding and trim)?

A: Currently there are no site photo available. We encourage all bidders to view the site in person.
