RFIs for 36c25723B0011
Replace Roof Bldgs. 116 and 117
1. What material and thickness is the decking for Building 116 & 117 made out of?
Response: Existing decking material is 7/8" thick x 8" wide Tongue and Groove. Where roof decking is to be replaced 7/8” thick plywood is to be used.
2. Each building has 2 vents. Three of them are the same and one appears to be different. Do we
a. need to provide a price to fabricate that vent to match the other 3 vents?
Response: Yes.
3. After walking around the buildings, there is some wood soffit that is not weathered beam but
a. twisted. Are we to replace it as well?
Response: Response from Fort Bliss Historical Office: If achievable warped wood can be remounted back into their correct position with stronger fasteners. The contractor should make a good faith effort to retain as much original soffit before replacement.
NOTE: make sure the replacement bead board matches the existing design in dimensions. Bead board planks are acceptable – plywood is not a suitable replacement.
4. The metal edge is a mil finish aluminum. What kind of trim are you requesting?
Response: Match the drip edge profile as on Building 273. The difference in installation will be Buildings 116/117 having a fascia board where Building 273 doesn’t. As such, the drip edge needs to be spaced accordingly from the fascia to properly shed water and painted to match the color of the fascia board (not the roof).
5. Where will the gutters and down spouts be located?
Response: Gutters are to be located above HVAC equipment and building entries. Fort Bliss Historical Office has required that gutters wrap around to the back of the buildings and that downspouts come down on the back side of the buildings (east side). Please make sure the downspouts are within the profile of the building where visible from the parade grounds. (see building 13 as an example).
