About this file
This document defines the delineated area of consideration for locating a new Biomedical Research Center at the Jackson Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC). The geographic area encompasses approximately 15–20 minutes of travel time from the Jackson Medical Center campus to ensure accessibility for investigators, trainees, and staff. The boundaries were established to include newly developed office and research parks in the Madison area to the north and the Richland area to the south, thereby maximizing the pool of available properties suitable for renovation.
The delineated area is bounded by Highways 22 and 463 to the north; Natchez Trace Parkway, Spillway Road, Highway 471, and Star Road to the east; Thomasville Road, Highway 469, West Main Street, Cleary Church Road, Florence-Byram Road, Siwell Road, Hinds Parkway, and Big Creek Road to the south; and Springridge Road and Clinton-Tinnin Road to the west. A map with red dashed lines visually depicts these boundaries, with the Veterans Affairs Department facility marked at the center near the Hinds County and Rankin County Health Department locations.

Text version
Delineated Area of Consideration for the Jackson VAMC Biomedical Research Center The proposed area of consideration is centered on the Jackson Medical Center campus. The boundaries have been defined based on two primary considerations. First, travel time to the new Biomedical Research Center should be limited to approximately 15–20 minutes to ensure accessibility for investigators, trainees, and staff. Second, several new office and research parks have recently been developed in the Madison area to the north and the Richland area to the south. Defining a sufficiently broad geographic area that includes these locations will expand the pool of available properties and facilitate identification of suitable space that can be renovated to support the mission of the Jackson VAMC Biomedical Research Center.
The boundaries of the delineated area are as follows:
Northern boundary: Hwys 22, 463.
Eastern boundary: Natchez Trace Pkwy, Spillway Rd, Hwy 471, Star Rd.
Southern boundary: Thomasville Rd, Hwy 469, W. Main St, Cleary Church Rd, Florence-Byram Rd, Siwell Rd, Hinds Pkwy, Big Creek Rd.
West boundary: Springridge Rd, Clinton-Tinnin Rd.
