QUESTIONS

VA RESPONSES

Reading through your proposal I didn't see a percentage of the bid bond. Is there one or are you requiring the entire $2M for bonding?

The amount of the bid guarantee shall be 20 percent of the bid price or $3MIL ,whichever is less.

I assume there is either no lead-based paint on the existing handrails and door frames which will have prepared for new paint or that the lead levels are below the maximum allowable. Do I understand this correctly? Your assistance is appreciated.

There is no lead in the paint, per safety.

1. We assume the 25 exit signs to be replaced refers to electrical lighted signs. is this correct?

2. The Signage Guidelines attached, do not specify which of the numerous signs which are illustrated will be required. There could be almost an infinite quantity required depending on the interpretation.

Can you advise the quantity of each sign required, size, mounting, etc. If the VA has a preferred supplier, colors, mounting, size, etc., please advise.

Yes, the 25 exit signs were for the electrical lighted signs.

The guidelines that were attached showed each type of landing and the signs required, as well as an optional evac plan sign. We will require the signs shown, but not the evac plan. The design manual also shows mounting.

The sizes for the signage are:

9x9- Smaller signs 12x12- Large NFPA sign

Will the VA remove existing network access nodes and security devices in the stairwells prior to the demolition and painting in each stairwell?

Contractor to remove, patch hole, and give the device to VA.

Where is the area to be designated for the Contractor to install a storage container/trailer as responded to in RFI 1?

Area will be determined with the winning bidder.

Will the VA require exposed ceilings to be painted if currently not painted?

Will Contractor be granted access to exterior (if available) for each Stairwell during construction to avoid traffic within the Hospital?

Yes.

Request Stairwell #3 (Northeast corner of CLC) be removed from Scope of Work as this stairwell was recently refinished. Materials and paint in Stairwells #1 and #2 can be selected to match.

No, renovate all stairwells.

Please confirm Scope of Work does not include any work past doors to the sub-basement? Doors and frames to sub-basement, on both sides, are included in Scope?

Are Vendor ID badges to be supplied by the Contractor or the VA? If VA supplied, what are the requirements?
