About this file
This document contains Questions and Answers related to a federal contract opportunity for Fire Sprinkler, Extinguisher, and Pumps Maintenance, Inspection, Testing and Repair Services. The key details are:
The contract requires all fire pumps to be electric, not diesel. The VA will be conducting the weekly system checks for the electric fire pumps. The inspector can complete the initial inspection, determine the number of replacement pressure gauges needed, and then return to replace the gauges. For the JACC Pensacola site, there should be a separate line item (1005) added for the annual fire pump testing and inspection, with corresponding option year line items. The contract opportunity is Solicitation Number 36C25624Q0781 from the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 16.

Questions and Answers
1. Need to know the Fire Pump Sizes and if they are Diesel or
Electric? Electric
2. Is the VA requesting that the subcontractor conducts the Weekly system checks required for those pumps that run on Diesel or does the VA run those weekly checks themselves? N/A all Electric
3. On Page 5, Section B.2 Scope of Work, Task Item 7 lists examples of “on-the-spot” actions. Pressure gauges are included in this list. It is common to have extra pressure gauges available during an inspection, however, depending on how many gauges may be needed, they may not be readily available and require a return trip. Is it acceptable for the inspector to complete the inspection 1st, get a total count of how many replacement gauges are needed, and then return back to replace the gauges? Yes
4. On page 12 (Biloxi VA) it added a Fire Pump testing Due in Feb each year and the prices on page 22 (line item 1004) match accordingly. However, for the same service that they are asking for at the JACC Pensacola (Fire Pump) it is not listed below on page 22 like it is for Biloxi (item number 1004). Should there be an item number 1005, and for the option years as well, added to the list that includes the JACC Fire Pump Service? Yes, 1005 JACC fire pump annual testing and inspection. Option 1. 2005 JACC fire pump option year. 3005 JACC fire pump option year. 4005 JACC fire pump option year.
