Fayetteville, AR

DATE: July 24, 2023

ITEM 1 – Bidding Requests for Information

# Reference Question Answer

1 Sheet

AE601 –

Details D2 & D4

When we remove the roofing to do the required work and uncover any rotted areas not in the contract, is the contractor to contact the CO/COR for scope and a possible CO.

For areas not in contract, Contractor is not responsible for replacing rotted wood. If rotted wood is uncovered, contact VA per spec section 010000 part 1.10.D. Any wood that is displaying rot and is not being replaced in details D2 & D4 on sheet AE601 will be a differing site condition (i.e. rot to the sheathing, existing wood rafters, etc.) and will be addressed through negotiations.

2 Scope of Work (from solicitation)

The gutter, down spouts and flashing are to be copper. The SOW reads “Replace all wood fascia, eaves, soffit and copper/aluminum integral system”. Due to the high cost, limited availability, and lead times for copper, is the VA open to a copper look alike material for these areas?

The contractor is to move forward with the installation of copper. In some places the copper ties in with existing aluminum which could lead to galvanic corrosion. Copper is also required due to the historical protection of the building.
