The design is calling for audio pull cords in the patient rooms, however the standard is Enhanced Patient Station that has a Code Blue and Staff Assist button built in. The Enhance Patient Station typically would need a symbol for Call Cord as well since TVs are not being installed for these rooms. The cabling qualified is “yellow” and the nurse call system for this facility whereas the existing CAT5e is green, white, and orange. Please advise.

Answer: The patient rooms do not need Enhanced Patient Stations or Audio Pull Cords. We need these to be Two-Level Emergency Stations, with no audio requirement. No Call Cords are needed. The cabling will be CAT6A, colors to match existing Nurse Call system (green, white & orange). See answers to questions #43, #44, & #45.
