3. Will the VA please clarify if Room 105, mail room that is currently hard lid ceiling will transition to a drop-in ceiling with ACT? 2x2 Armstrong Cortega 770, 9’ Clg Ht
4. Currently in the mezzanine above Rm 105 there is security shield above the existing hard ceiling that is either screwed or tac welded to hat channel. The hat channel is supported by wire from the roofing bar joists. Are there safety or security considerations that will drive the requirement for this shield to stay? If so, how will it be integrated with an ACT drop ceiling? No security shield required.
5. Will the VA please clarify what type of ACT and grid and what type of LED troffer lighting (basis of design) they want the contractor to install in the mail room or any room that is transitioning from hard ceiling to ACT? 2x2 Armstrong Cortega 770, 9’ Clg Ht
6. What type of containment walls will the VA require if the contractor has to isolate areas in the pedestrian portions of the work areas? Level III required

8. Will the VA please clarify if the new door to the chase will be a 6’ – 0” x 7’ – 0” door frame with HM insulated door? Yes
9. Will the VA please clarify the hardware requirement for the door (lockset, closer, kickplate, etc..) ? Best lock lever action, flush bolts on secondary

12. What type of lighting will be required in the new duct chase? No lighting required
13. What if anything, will the VA want the contractor to do about the single 2 x 4 troffer that will likely interfere with the new chase walls? No lighting required
14. The contractor will need to lintel off the exterior brick in order to make an opening for the new duct to pass through the wall and into the building.
How does the VA want the contractor to reinforce that brick veneer wall to prevent it from collapsing?
JLM Chiller Plant upgrade project has a similar penetration that includes a design for securing that opening. Something similar to that would suffice.
Top plate – 3/8” steel, galvanized.
Top - angle iron, 6”x6”x 3/8” galvanized.
Side and bottom plate – ¼” steel plate, galvanized.
Bottom block filled with concrete and 5/8” wedge anchors set with Hilti-270.
Use 7/8” galvanized bolts, washers and nuts.
The corners need to be welded as well as the angle to the top plate.
The cover plates are galvanized 18-gauge steel.
15. How far away does the VA want the edge of the new housekeeping pad to sit off the existing building wall? 12” from the building
16. Currently there is landscaping roughly 3’ off the building exterior wall. How should the contractor modify this landscaping to meet the VA’s satisfaction? Disregard the landscaping, landscaping will be handled by a future contract.

What if anything, does the VA want the contractor to do in order to get the condensate water away from the building envelope? Provide the condensate line draining towards the street and away from the building.

19. If no underground utility site plan is available, will #811 call before you dig service be able to identify the underground utilities in that area prior to digging? VA will provide site plan
20. If 811 will not have a record of the utility plan, which party to the contract will be required to coordinate utility locating? VA will provide site plan
21. It would be helpful to the contractor if the VA would provide an electrical drawing showing the electrical requirements on this project. Will the VA provide that drawing? See No 23
22. Will the VA want an exterior disconnect installed on the exterior wall adjacent to the new unit? Yes, Provide a NEMA 3R 30A Fused Disconnect located by the unit

24. If this panel will not work for electrical support, will the VA please provide guidance on where they want the construction team to pull power from? The Electrical Panel PP has a spare breaker rated for 30A/480V.
25. Will the contractor need to account for a phasing plan for the new ceiling work and duct work above the ceiling or can the contractor anticipate receiving all of the area at one time?

30. Are the HVAC controls in that building and the corresponding upstream controllers currently Siemens’s products? Yes, they are Siemen’s products and B-182 is connected to our BAS.
