1. Reference Brand Name J&A:
Our Company is currently working at a different location at VA Pineville. On this particular project, we were told to use Open Options Access Control as opposed to Lenel. It was stated that the Campus is migrating from Lenel. Which product should be used for this project? The old Lenel platform? Or the newer Open Options platform?
Open Options software is to be used
2. Reference SECTION 275223, Subsection 2.2, Number 4 - Patient Stations:
Current design has the patient station listed as high-impact ABS Plastic. Aiphone also offers a stainless-steel patient station option. (NI-BA and NI-JA) As we are moving to a more secure environment, would not the stainless-steel options with security bolts be the more secure option for this particular renovation?
Stainless-steel with security bolts would be the recommended approach.
3. I am trying to clarify the top of the door alarm required for this project. – We provided a top of the door alarm in 2021. However, this solicitation is calling out for our competitors product, adding to our system. Or does your facility have a different system in place?
Existing hardware will be reused where possible. Any damaged/non-functional hardware is to be replaced to match current system which was supplied by The Door Switch company. The supplier’s (The Door Switch company), contact information is: pat@thedoorswitch.com, 314-298-3433. The installer’s (Piedmont) contact information is: Michael Deese; mdeese@piedmontds.com, 704-609-9543. Submittals from installation of products are available upon request.
4. In regards to the requirement to provide unarmed guards. Would it be acceptable to instead, secure the constructing entrance outside Sally Port on the elevator side with secured double doors?
Unarmed guards are not applicable to this requirement. We have the locking sally port with the visual coverage from the nurse’s station, that should meet any requirements. We also have a phone in the elevator lobby and between the doors in the sally port
5. Can you verify if the window type W-4 is to be replaced with a new window, or will it just need to be re-glazed? On the window schedule on elevation, the new Hollow Metal on a couple of details and plans has a note #13 stating to reglaze. Can you please clarify as to whether these windows are to be reglazed or replaced ?
This is an interior window type that is existing and is to be re-glazed. only exterior windows and the glazing around the sallyport is new.
6. We have gotten word from a supplier that the Mark #D window may have to be changed to an aluminum storefront curtain wall to get the window that is requested. Is that acceptable?
This is acceptable as long as the frame color, material, and size profile match the other windows on the project.
7. Sheet P-101 note: Allowance Allowed for unforeseen conditions during demolition phase: $40,000, how should the allowance handled, the pricing sheet does not have a line, if in the base bid how is the allowance tracked
The allowance annotated in Sheet P-101 has been removed. Please see the revised Sheet P-101.
