About this file

This is a Pre-Bid Request for Information (RFI) document for Solicitation 36C25526R0166, Project 657-27-107JC, concerning the replacement of a select hot water heating system.

The document presents ten pre-bid inquiries from potential contractors seeking clarification on project requirements. Key questions address specification documentation (noting that the provided attachment appears to be a Design Manual rather than specifications), control system integration requirements and the point of contact for Automatic Controls Equipment Systems at John Cochran, pump integration requirements for replacement heat exchangers, piping connections to existing shutoff valves, steam pressure specifications and pressure relief valve (PRV) requirements, tax inclusion in project pricing, equipment pad requirements, fiberglass insulation specifications (2" thickness), required leaving water temperature parameters, and verification of the NAICS code classification (238220 for Plumbing, Heating and Air-Conditioning Contractors). The inquiries indicate uncertainty regarding technical specifications, installation standards, interface with existing systems, and cost allocation methodology that require clarification prior to bid preparation.

Project 657-27-107JC Pre-Bid RFI’S

1. The attachment labeled “ATTACHMENT SPECIFICATIONS 36C25526R0166_1” does not contain the specifications. This looks to be the Design Manual.

a. Please provide specifications for the project.

2. Statement of Work, Note 2, Bullet Point #5 states “Integrate controls, instrumentation, electrical wiring, and safety devices.”

a. Please provide more details as to what will be required for “Controls”.

b. Automatic Controls Equipment Systems performs the control work at John Cochran. Should we reach out to Mike Kunstel @ (314) 603-2755 for more information?

3. The existing heat exchangers have integrated pumps build onto their “skids”. Will the new replacement exchangers require the same integration?

4. Should the contractor plan on piping to the existing shutoff valves?

5. What is the steam pressure in the mechanical room? Will a PRV be needed?

6. Are Taxes to be included in the project?

7. Are equipment pads required for the new equipment?

8. Should the contractor plan on 2” fiberglass insulation for the piping?

9. What is the required leaving water temperature?

10. Can you Verify that this project home page is correct for the right NAISC Code 238220 Plumbing, Heating and Air-Conditioning Contractors?
