QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. Section 5, line H states “Unlimited service calls shall be provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week”, is this at the contractor’s expense or is this charged under CLIN 0002, 1002, 2002, etc.?

ANSWER: The SOW states, “This provision includes labor, travel, and mileage associated with equipment failures…This provision covers all labor to troubleshoot and diagnose system problems:

Section B.3 12(a) states contractor shall repair at the Contractor’s expense, fire alarm system or sprinkler device problems up to $1,000 per device. Section B.3 12(b) states “for repair parts cost totaling more than $1,000 per contract year period, the contractor shall follow the section title repairs and unscheduled work. Could you clarify what this means? Is it $1,000 in total repairs for the contract year, $1,000 per sprinkler, and $1,000 per fire alarm, or is it anything less than $1,000 it is on the contractor? For example, if 100 smoke detectors go bad, (assuming a smoke is less than $1,000) is the contractor responsible for each device out of pocket? The last scenario would make it impossible to bid this properly, as most “devices” on a fire alarm and sprinkler are less than

$1,000 and we have no idea how much stuff could go bad in a year. THIS STATES THE

CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COSTS PER VISIT UP TO $1,000 PER

DEVICE. ANYTHING ABOVE $1,000 WILL BE ON THE GOVT TO FUND. MOST VISITS

ENTAIL WELL UNDER $1,000 PER SERVICE CALLBACK/VISIT.

2. Can we get a device count for all fire alarm devices (panels, smokes, heats, pulls, monitor modules, etc.).

ANSWER:

3. Can we get a number and type of sprinkler systems?

ANSWER: 3 buildings, 5 hood locations, with 6 Ansulex and 1 Badger Agent cylinders.

9. Can we get a date for the last hydrostatic test on the kitchen hoods?

ANSWER: 03/01/2011, 10/01/2012, 10/21/2018, 10/21/2021, 09/22/2012, 09/22/2012, 09/01/2012

10. Can we get a count of the number of fire hydrants?

ANSWER: 46

11. B.6 Fire extinguishers does not mention 6-year internal tests, or 12-year hydrostatic tests. Are we responsible for this and if so can we get a list of the last 6 year and 12 year on the extinguishers?

We purchase new extinguishers and replace them ourselves when they get to the 6 year test.

ANSWER: No responsibility for contractor on testing the extinguishers.

12. Can we get a size and type for all the extinguishers?

ANSWER: We, address getting the extinguisher, but a majority are 10# ABC

13. How many fire pumps are there?

ANSWER: 1 FIRE PUMP

14. The 5 year internal specified the 3rd quarter of the Base period. How many dampers are there and are there drawings depicting those locations?

ANSWER: Based on the last report, there were 339 dampers. I am not aware of any new ones due to construction, but it is not certain more haven’t been installed or some taken out.

15. Can you provide us with a list of all the systems that are covered in the contract including their make, model, serial numbers, and quantities? That would be of much assistance to us in getting the most accurate pricing.

ANSWER: All of our fire protection systems are Simplex (Panels and Devices). Most panels are model 4100, we also have 4100ES and 4010ES panels.

16. Are there drawings available?
