About this file
This is Amendment A0001 to Solicitation 36C25226B0005, issued by the Department of Veterans Affairs Great Lakes Acquisition Center for a construction project at the Oscar G Johnson VAMC Hospital. The amendment extends the bid opening date from March 23, 2026 to March 26, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. CDT and incorporates six Requests for Information (RFI) responses with corresponding clarifications to the original solicitation package.
The amendment addresses critical technical and procedural matters, including confirmation that no electronic bid submissions will be accepted (physical mail or hand-delivery only), provision of corrected drawing specifications showing 42x30 page sizes rather than 8.5x11, and clarification on material specifications for bolts, nuts, washers, and trap bodies that must meet A193, A194, and F436 standards for high-heat applications with cast iron components explicitly rejected. The VA confirmed that an asbestos survey will be available upon contract start with quantity estimates provided on drawings page MD101, and that site access requirements and coordination points are detailed on pages 1 and 6 of the solicitation. Additionally, the amendment specifies that non-destructive radiographic examination as specified in the contract documents must be performed and upheld rather than substituted with hydrostatic testing. RFI responses were due by March 6, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. All bidders must acknowledge receipt of this amendment and monitor the SAM.gov website for any additional amendments, with inquiries directed to Contracting Officer Donita Grace at Donita.Grace@va.gov.

| To mitigate any potential complications with submitting a physical bid, either via mail or in person, would you consider changing the submission method to allow for electronic bids via email? Additionally, if this is to remain a mail or hand delivered bid submission, would you consider extending the bid opening to accommodate mailed submissions? With the bid being due on a Monday morning, mail in submissions would need to be sent out on the previous Friday. This leaves open the possibility for last minute changes to develop over the weekend that cannot be taken into consideration by contractors submitting via mail. |
No electronic submittal. Bid date has been extended to 3/26/2026.
