QUESTIONS/ANSWERS
1) VENDOR QUESTION:
Reference Spec 09 60 00 Schedule for Finishes AT-1 ceiling grid is required in various areas based on room finish schedule. Basis of Design is Donn Brand AX/AXCE grid. Which grid is required in which room. AX or AXCE? The AXCE grid is gasketed.
VA REPLY:
Provide Donn Brand AX grid (non-gasketed) OR EQUAL in all areas where AT-1 is specified.
2) VENDOR QUESTION:
Reference Drawing AD102 - General Note 5 requires the contractor to remove floor finishes. Several areas have existing ceramic floor tile which will require removal. Is there a lightweight concrete infill over the structural concrete slab in the building which could warrant major floor patching after ceramic is removed?
VA REPLY:
As-Built drawings of the building do not indicate a lightweight concrete fill over the existing structural slab on grade. However, contractor shall patch concrete slab as required by Spec section 02 09 16 Subsurface Preparation for Floor Finishes and as required by manufacturer(s) of new finishes.
3) VENDOR QUESTION:
Reference drawing AD102 - Keynotes 1 & 3 require saw-cutting concrete slab. What is the total thickness of the slabs to be removed?
VA REPLY:
Per the As-Built drawings for the building, the existing concrete slab is 4" thick. Photos taken at the time of construction shows that the slab is relatively level, with a recess at the existing shower.
4) VENDOR QUESTION:
What equipment do we need to move?
VA REPLY:
All free standing and built in equipment, furniture, tables, chairs and sinks
5) VENDOR QUESTION:
What equipment is being reused?

6) VENDOR QUESTION:
Substitution Request: Substitute HDPE plastic lockers for metal lockers.
VA REPLY:

VA REPLY:
Hoods should be 2' wide x 1'-4" deep x 10' long.
8) VENDOR QUESTION:
The specs and plan notes all indicate that the material for the hoods and ductwork are 18 ga aluminum, but section 4/M301 has a note "Neoprene gasket connection of SS hood to aluminum duct. Typ." which indicates that the hood is of stainless steel. Please clarify material.
VA REPLY:
Hood and hood ducting shall be constructed of stainless steel with continuous welded joints.
9) VENDOR QUESTION:
Are the 10" cart washer exhaust and the 4" 452-HE-5 exhaust both supposed to be stainless steel double wall insulated such as AL29-4C? Please clarify.
VA REPLY:
Contractor to pull (8) cables as indicated on the drawings. 8-port device faceplate would be configured similar to the 4-port faceplate shown (2V2D) whereas the top row would be (4) voice and the bottom row would be (4) data. All ports on the faceplate to be configured to fit in a standard double gang outlet box or low voltage drywall ring with conduit to the above ceiling accessible space.
10) VENDOR QUESTION:
Per the legend on print E001 the black triangle is calling for (4) voice and (4) data cables to each of those locations. Does the VA really want (8) cables pulled to each of those 44 locations? I'm thinking it should be (2) voice and (2) data for a total of 4 cables to each location. I don't see a detail on E503 for an 8 port faceplate.
VA REPLY:
