About this file

This document contains answers to a second set of questions regarding a request for information (RFI) for a data and power infrastructure delivery contract (IDC) opportunity with the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10. Key details include that there is no incumbent for the requirement. The RFI answers provide specifications for cable labeling, wire mold sizing and installation standards, and clarification that power and data will be in separate enclosures, not a quad outlet as originally stated. The document also addresses adding additional cost line items for cable runs over 20 feet as needed to fully price longer home runs.

RFI QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS – Data and Power IDC

**2nd SET OF QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

(See Attachment XIII – RFI Questions AND Answers for the 1st set)

1. Is there an Incumbent? If so, could the government please provide the name and contract number?

ANSWER: No there is not.

2. The price/cost schedule table on pages 4-33 contains language in the description of supplies/services for multiple CLINS (0020, 10020, 20020, 30020, and 40020) "Install up to 4’ of metal wire mold for data cabling and/or receptacles”.

Does this include the wire and jack termination? Additionally, could you specify the series/size of the wire mold involved?

ANSWER: The jack termination itself shall not be in wire mold. The specific series to be used is 500 series. The size is ¾”.

3. The price/cost schedule table on pages 5-33 contains language in the description of supplies/services for multiple CLINS (0024, 10024, 20024, 30024, and 40024) "Construct an anteroom”.

What will be the specific size or dimension for the ante room? No details on this are given in the Statement of Work.

ANSWER: The “anteroom” will be defined as the Infection Control Barrier, typically these will just cover the doorway entering the room we are working in. If you’re working in the corridors, you will be using a containment cart most of the time.

4. For CLINs 0008-0009, 10008-10009, 20008-20009, 30008-30009, and 40008-40009, what items need to be labeled to fulf ill this requirement?

ANSWER: The patch panel itself at the ports and the cable itself needs to be labeled.

5. Updated SOW Document Page 1, where under scope b it states, 'Contractor shall use standard faceplates shall be a quad outlet, where the two data cables occupy the bottom two jacks.' Our interpretation suggests that both power and data occupy the same enclosure. Is that correct?

ANSWER: No that is not correct, power and data occupy separate enclosures. “shall be a quad outlet” needs removed

6. Per the latest RFI answers we've been directed to install a 4 square junction box in the electrical closet with new circuit for VA to finish installing conduit and make final connection to the electrical panel. That being said the new price/cost schedule did not add a CLIN for runs longer than 20', please advise if a CLIN will be added to take care of longer home runs when needed.

ANSWER: If a longer homerun is needed then the contractor shall add additional CLINs, that detail a 20’ run, until the desired footage is reached.
