About this file

This document contains responses to contractor questions regarding a federal solicitation for exterior lighting upgrades and expansions. The solicitation from the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 10 seeks to replace existing lighting fixtures and poles with newer, more efficient options, add lighting in low-light areas, and is responsible for site restoration over a 270-day period of performance. Questions and answers indicate the replacement fixtures will not include photo eyes, contractors must provide adapter plates if new pole bases do not match existing bolt patterns, and one fixture is to be surface-mounted on an exterior dock wall with externally routed conduit.

Project 506-21-208 Upgrade and Expand Exterior Lighting Second Round Contractor RFI's and Responses

1. Do the L2-L3-L9 fixtures have photo eyes on them? No, these fixtures are replacing existing fixtures that should be controlled by the existing control system.

2. What happens if the old pole bases bolt pattern doesn’t fit the new poles? We are replacing like for like. If the pole base patterns do not fit, the contractor shall provide an adapter plate in order to make them fit.

3. The electrical construction notes (3)-(22) say the same thing is there a mistake? These two construction notes do not say the same thing. Note 3 is removing the light fixture only. Note 22 is removing the fixture and the pole.

4. On ES108 drawing shows L8 fixture on wall and the conduit running on the outside wall is that what they want? Yes. This fixture is on a dock area under a canopy in a non-public place. The contractor should still take care to route the conduit, so it is not visually unappealing.
