RFI Responses RFI 001 References: DWG. #: 9-A100, 82-A100 and CW-A100

1. Please provide the rough openings for the doors to be installed in the covered porches for buildings 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.

Reply: There are no new doors being installed in building 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12. Only adding new auto door operator and electric strike, with push button actuators, to each of these existing doors, refer to plans and door hardware spec. for complete information.

2. Please provide the rough opening for the door to be installed in building 82, between the lobby and the corridor.

Reply: There are no new doors being installed in building 82. Only adding new auto door operator and electric strike, with push button actuators, to each of the active leaf of this existing pair of doors, refer to plans and door hardware spec. for complete information.

3. The operator for the access door is not normally exposed to weather. It is recommended by the contractor to install flashing over the automatic door operators.

Reply: Not sure exactly which door you are referring to as the question only references access door and does not included any building number or door number or type of door. However, if this is in reference to the covered walkway, then please refer to sections 6 & 7 on CW‐A100 that show metal flashing above the header/auto operator of the sliding automatic entrance door.

1. Due to the small quantity of steel required for this project please confirm that all steel work is to be in accordance with AISC standards, and that a certified AISC stamp is not required. Only large steel fabricators in Michigan have the AISC stamp, the monetary cost would not be to the benefit of the project. Also, the specs state in numerous areas that the steel is to be in accordance with AISC. Below was the only notation that required the AISC.

Section 05 12 00

1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE

1. A. Fabricator and erector shall maintain a program of quality assurance in conformance with Section 8, Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges. Work shall be fabricated in an AISC certified Category Std. fabrication plant.

Reply: Due to the amount of steel on this project we will waive the requirement for the steel to be fabricated in an AISC certified plant. All steel is required to be fabricated in conformance with AISC standards.

RFI 004 Reference: 07 54 16 / 5-A300 Detail #2

1. The specified roofing product for the new marketplace is incompatible with the roofing product currently on building 5. The detail shows to tie the new roofing system into the existing roofing system. I don’t believe this can be accomplished or warrantable.

From our vantage point a few options could possibly be recommended:

• Re-design the new roof to tie-in high on the bldg 5 wall and below the existing bldg 5 roof to avoid patching into the existing. This would also eliminate the ponding created toward building 5 below the roof drain location specified.

• Add re-roof of building 5 to the scope of the project

• Change the new roof to a product that is compatible with the existing building 5 roof system
