GOVERNMENT’S RESPONSE

The following questions were asked regarding the provision of temporary generators for the project. Responses to questions 8, 27, 28 and 29 = “see Keynote #11 on sheet E-101 for what should be included in bid.” This keynote reads: ”PROJECT BID SHALL INCLUDE THE RENTAL FEES OF THE GENERATOR FOR THE PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE.PROJECT BID SHALL ALSO INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION OF THE TEMPORARY GENERATORS, SETTING UP, TEMPORARY WIRES, FUEL AND MAINTENANCE OF THE COMPLETE UNIT AND TEMPORARY CONNECTIONS.” . Responses to questions 19, 31 and 64 = “The VA is providing the temporary generators and the fuel.”

The VA is providing the generator and fuel.

Drawing M-102, GENERAL NOTE B: “EXHAUST PIPES SHALL BE DOUBLE WALL INSULATED W/JACKETING ENGINEERED FOR EXTERIOR INSTALLATION.”KEYNOTE 3: “NEW 16” GENERATOR EXHAUST PIPE . REFER TO SPECIFICATION SECTION 26 32 13.” SPECIFICATION 263213.2.7.D “Exhaust Piping and supports : Black steel pipe, ASTM A-53 standard weight with welded fittings.” Please indicate if the exhaust piping is to be DOUBLE WALL INSULATED ENGINEERED ASSEMBLY FOR EXTERIOR INSTALLATION or BLACK STEEL PIPE.

Exhaust pipes shall be double wall insulated with jacketing engineered for exterior installation. The caveat to this is that black steel pipe can be part of a double wall system.

Question 1 and 63 asked for information regarding the FIRE ALARM SYSTEM in order to acquire cost estimate for the modifications to the FIRE ALARM system as shown on the drawings.(manufacturer, installer, system contact). This information was not provided in either response.
It is a Siemens fire alarm system and point of contact will be provided upon award.
Drawing M- 101 KEYNOTE 4 “ PROVIDE NEW DUCTWORK, FITTINGS, TRANSITIONS, ACCESSORIES ETC. FROM LOUVER TO GENERATOR.” The existing generator ductwork has motorized dampers which are not shown on the drawings. Will these existing motorized dampers be re-installed, replaced or removed?
This shall all be new to go along with the new ductwork. The idea is to have a new system with all new Accessories.
