Warren A Pennil Contracting Officer Animal Clinic Epoxy Flooring Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center Richmond Virginia, 23249 Amendment A0002 Solicitation 36C24622Q0591
Question 7 is amended from:
7. Q: What is the total sq ft for the job or do you want to just price per phase at 2700 sq ft per trip?
A: The total sq footage is 2700, to be broken down in 4-6 phases.
Is amended to:
Q: What is the total sq ft for the job or do you want to just price per phase at 2700 sq ft per trip?
A: 10,000 sq ft 2700 per phase
Additional question 20-28 as follow:
20. Q: Will the contractor be responsible for moving the VA’s equipment out of the phased work space?
A: No, we will move it
21. Q: If the contractor is responsible for moving the furniture, how long of a distance from the job site will the storage location be?
A: N/A
22. Q: It is imperative that we account for any possible downtime while working on the road. Will the contractor be able to work straight through from one phase to the next, or will the contractor have to wait a day or two between phases to allow the VA to move out of the area associated with the next phase? A: There will be days offs in between phases
23. Q: Non-slip shark-grit like aggregate can often be broadcasted with uniformity and sheen issues. If the VA wants slip resistance, a single broadcast of hybrid or 1/16” flake would be a better solution. Will the VA accept a Hybrid flake broadcast in lieu of the non-slip shark grit like additives?
A: Yes
24. Q: Once started Epoxy flooring installation must be continued without interruption otherwise your most recent layer of epoxy will cure and the installer will lose the chemical bond. This results in sanding the surface and more work/labor needed to create a mechanical bond the next available workday. We understand that the working hours are M-F, however, we often need a Saturday or Sunday to continue coating in order to retain the integrity of the chemical bond. The caveat is that if we are not afforded the weekend opportunity then a crew will likely not start a next phase until Monday, regardless if it becomes available on Thursday or Friday. Not being able to work a weekend will force the installer into a Monday – Thursday scenario. The POP is 31 days which is 4.3 weeks. Excluding Federal Holidays and weekends, there are only 20 workable days in July. If there are 6-7 phases with four days of work in each phase, then this project could drag on for 6-7 weeks therefore busting the 31 (20 working) day POP. Based on my calculations, we need a minimum of 24 and a maximum of 28 working days in order to accomplish this project. If we request to work over the weekend will this request be granted?
A: NO, work can only be Monday thru Friday.
25. Q: How tall in inches or feet or both, does the cove base need to be installed up the wall?
A: 4 inches
26. Q: What is the current wall substrate?
A: Block
27. If the wall is block/CMU, does the VA want the grout/course lines troweled smooth prior to the coating being applied?
A: Yes
28. Q: If the wall is sheetrock, will the VA provide a smooth finish for the contractor to install the cove base against?
A: N/A
