Replace Perimeter Fence
IFB 36C24619B0020
1. Can the existing fence be demoed in whole and the area left open until the new fence is installed? If no, how long can it be left open? The existing fence can be demoed in whole and the area left open until the new fence is installed except where it is adjacent to existing property owners. The property that belongs to adjacent property owners must remain secure at all times and must be worked out and coordinated individually with the property owners.
2. Does the VA expect the new fence to be installed exactly on the line/path of the existing fence, or is some variation toward the inside acceptable? The new fence is to be installed exactly on the line of the existing fence. A small variation toward the inside is acceptable if absolutely necessary.
3. Exactly how much distance from the existing fence toward the inside can the Contractor consider “working area”? Will this area need to be cordoned off with temporary fence? As much as needed to safely accomplish the installation.
4. Does VA expect all existing trees to be preserved and worked around? If no please identify which trees are to be removed? Yes, all trees are to be worked around and preserved.
5. Are the areas behind building 9, building 47, and in the contractor’s parking area acceptable as lay-down areas for fence sections waiting to be installed? This will be worked out with the COR prior to start.
6. What security measures are expected with regards to adjacent properties (residential or other)? This must be worked out with the adjacent property owners. If the properties are secured now they must remain secured throughout the project unless it is worked out and approved by the property owners.
7. Is a survey of the property within the scope of work? No, put new fence on the line of the existing fence.
8. Can you please verify that the existing fence is within or on the property line of the VA.? The existing fence is on the property of the VA
9. Can you please provide a current survey of the VA property? No, this will not be provided and is not required.
10. Can you provide the legal disruption for the VA property? The legal description for VA property will not be provided and the new fence is to be located where the existing fence is located.
11. Can we consider that all; trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants under 4” caliper at ABH can be removed or cut down without discussion? If no can you please define what can be removed or cut? All trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants under 4” caliper at ABH ON VA PROPERTY can be removed or cut down without discussion.
12. At an area of fence near the bamboo grove the existing chain link fence is acting as a retaining wall. It appears the adjoining property owner filled against it. Removing the existing fence will cause the joining property to give way. Can you please provide a detail for this area? Is a retaining wall required? Install the new fence where the existing fence is located and put the soil back as it is.
13. The VA has an electric meter on a wooden post (near Tunnel Rd.) almost like a temporary service very close to the fence. If we are installing the new fence in the same location as the existing fence. Is moving the service within the scope of work? If yes where is the new location to be? Install the fence in the same location as the existing fence. Relocating any electric meters is not in the scope of this project.
14. Can any disturbed areas be seed and straw or is sod required? Disturbed areas are to be seeded and straw.
