Question and Answers 36C24425Q0633 Fire/Smoke Barriers and Dampers Inspections Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center 1111 East End Blvd Wilkes Barre, PA 18711

1. Are the dampers pneumatic, mechanical or electrical? If dampers are electrical, do you have an electrician on staff available if the dampers do not have test switches?

Answer: There are a variety of pneumatic, mechanical and electrical dampers. In the instance that test switches are not available for electric dampers, VA electricians will be able to assist.

2. Do you have current Plans you can provide showing the location of each damper? Or a previous report showing a description of the location?

Answer: Attachments C.1 and C.2 are included, which contain a portion of a previous report with information and descriptions on the location of dampers. Attachment C.2 provides locations for the dampers identified at the time of this report, but is not an updated full list of dampers requiring inspections.

3. Are the dampers labeled on the grids on ceilings?

Answer: Some of the dampers are labeled, others have been removed or were not labeled.

4. Will ICRA/HEPA carts be required in the facility? If yes, will the facility be providing the HEPA cart and what percentage of the facility is HEPA cart use required?

Answer: They are required in certain areas, ICRA barriers may be constructed by the contractor when needed. The facility will not provide ICRA/HEPA carts, they are the contractor’s responsibility.

5. We would greatly appreciate it if you could confirm whether the Life Safety Drawings for Building #27 are available, and if so, kindly provide a copy when possible.

Answer: The Life-Safety drawings in Attachment B include Building 27 but are not labeled separately. Everything below “CLC West Stair” is Building 27, a screenshot is included below from Attachment B, page 5 for reference of the Building 27 location throughout the Attachment B.

6. Are there any opportunities for a site visit?

Answer: There are no site visit opportunities available.
