SUBMITTALS

Submittal Procedures: Section 01 33 23, SHOP DRAWINGS, PRODUCT DATA, AND SAMPLES.

Manufacturer's Literature and Data:

Description of each product.

Adhesives and primers indicating manufacturer's recommendation for each application.

Installation instructions.

Samples:

Resilient Base: height, length, profile and color as per construction drawing.

Operation and Maintenance Data:

Care instructions for each exposed finish product.

DELIVERY

Deliver products in manufacturer's original sealed packaging.

Mark packaging, legibly. Indicate manufacturer's name or brand, type, color, production run number, and manufacture date.

Before installation, return or dispose of products within distorted, damaged, or opened packaging.

STORAGE AND HANDLING

Store products indoors in dry, weathertight facility.

Protect products from damage when handling and during construction operations.

FIELD CONDITIONS

Environment:

Product Temperature: Minimum 21 degrees C (70 degrees F) for minimum 48 hours before installation.

Work Area Ambient Temperature Range: 21 to 27 degrees C (70 to 80 degrees F) continuously, beginning 48 hours before installation.

Install products when building is permanently enclosed and when wet construction is completed, dried, and cured.

PRODUCTS

RESILIENT BASE

Rubber Base: height, length, profile and color as per construction drawing.

Type: Rubber or vinyl; use one type throughout.

ASTM F1861, Type TP thermoplastic rubber or Type TV thermoplastic vinyl, Group 2 - layered. Profiled shape as specified on construction drawings.

ADHESIVES

Adhesives: Low pollutantemitting, water based type recommended by adhered product manufacturer for each application.

EXECUTION

PREPARATION

Examine and verify substrate suitability for product installation.

Protect existing construction and completed work from damage.

Remove existing base to permit new installation.

Dispose of removed materials.

Correct substrate deficiencies.

Fill cracks, pits, and depressions with leveling compound.

Remove protrusions; grind high spots.

Apply leveling compound to achieve 3 mm (1/8 inch) in 3 m (10 feet) maximum surface variation.

Clean substrates. Remove contaminants capable of affecting subsequently installed product's performance.

Mechanically clean concrete floor substrate according to ASTM D4259.

Surface Profile: ICRI Guideline No. 310.2R.

Allow substrate to dry and cure.

Perform flooring manufacturer’s recommended bond, substrate moisture content, and pH tests.

INSTALLATION GENERAL

Install products according to manufacturer's instructions.

When instructions deviate from specifications, submit proposed resolution for Contracting Officer consideration.

RESILIENT BASE INSTALLATION

Applications:

Install resilient base in every space shown on Drawings, with the exception of shower room.

Extend resilient base into closets, alcoves, and cabinet knee spaces, and around columns within rooms.

Lay out resilient base with minimum number of joints.

Length: 600 mm (24 inches) minimum, each piece.

Locate joints 150 mm (6 inches) minimum from corners and intersection of adjacent materials.

Installation:

Apply adhesive uniformly for full contact between resilient base and substrate.

Set resilient base with hairline butted joints aligned along top edge.

Miter cut precisely all outside and inside corners.

CLEANING

Remove excess adhesive before adhesive sets.

Clean exposed resilient base surfaces. Remove contaminants and stains.

Clean with mild detergent. Leave surfaces free of detergent residue.

PROTECTION
