Solicitation Questions and Reponses
Question 1- For the 500-unit sprinkler replacement task, would the Government consider accepting pricing for the replacement of standard temperature, K5.6/K8.0 quick-response or standard-response sprinklers within the firm fixed-price. And any requirement for specialty sprinklers (e.g., Attic, Dry-Pendent, or Institutional sprinklers) that exceed that standard unit cost threshold be addressed via CLIN X014 (Parts and Materials) or via a separate 'Over-and-Above' provision?
Response- The facility has a variety of sprinkler heads that function in different areas. The standard styles are:
· 55% facility coverage- Pendent-style, QR, Chrome, 155F, 5.6K
· 20% facility coverage- Upright-style, QR, Chrome or brass, 155F, 5.6K
· 20% facility coverage- Sidewall-style, QR, Chrome, 155F, 5.6K
· 2.5% facility coverage- Dry-pendent, QR, Deep escutcheon, Chrome, 155F, 5.6K, 24in.
· 2.5% facility coverage- Dry-horizontal, QR, Deep escutcheon, Chrome, 155F, 5.6K, 24in.
All sprinkler heads selected for installation shall comply with the requirements of the VA Fire Protection Design Manual (latest edition) and shall, unless otherwise stated:
· Replace any standard response sprinkler head with an in-kind quick response
· Shall not be recessed or concealed
· Shall be Factory Mutual (FM) approved
· Shall be Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listed Regarding line item 0014- Please refer to FAR 52.212-1 Note- The response date is hereby extended from 3/31/2026 at 3:00pm to 4/01/2026 at 12:00pm EST.
